About this survey

The idea is simple. If you got to the end of your life and someone handed you a customer satisfaction survey — the same kind a hotel or an airline sends — what would you put down?

It is a joke with a real question inside it. The measures here borrow from actual well-being research: overall life satisfaction, sense of meaning, and satisfaction across the domains that tend to matter most — health, love, family, friendship, work, money, growth, play, peace, nature, freedom and safety.

What we collect

Your answers, and nothing else. There is no account, no email, no login, no analytics script, no advertising pixel, and no cookie. We do not store your IP address; it is held in memory only long enough to stop one person submitting hundreds of times, then discarded.

What is public

Aggregate numbers only — averages, counts and percentages, on the results page. Two rules protect you:

  • Free text is never published. The written answers are kept private, full stop.
  • Small groups are never averaged. If fewer than five people share a characteristic, the dashboard reports the count but withholds every average for that group.

The optional questions

Every demographic question can be skipped, and every one offers "prefer not to say." They exist because "how satisfied are people with life" is a boring question and "how does that differ across ages, places, incomes and beliefs" is an interesting one. Share what you are comfortable sharing and nothing more.

What this is not

It is not a scientific study. Anyone can answer, people find it by word of mouth, and that makes the sample self-selected rather than representative. Read the charts as a conversation, not as evidence.

If any of these questions bring up something heavy: please reach out to someone you trust, or a local crisis or support line. This survey is not a substitute for that, and never will be.
